The MultiTec boasts a significantly redesigned shell, emphasizing a smooth and sporty image. The flip-up face cover and shell join to form a soft, streamlined shape. This streamlining extends into design of the ventilation system, blending into the shell’s luxurious design. Even the helmet’s interior design, including fittings, is incorporated into the smooth look, enhancing its overall performance. To reduce the neck fatigue that can result from wind during hours of high speed riding, an aero spoiler has been incorporated into the top rear of the shell to prevent excess drag and lift. The stylish ventilation design acts to direct airflow and restrain air resistance, improving overall aerodynamics. This balance of motion performance and aerodynamics is a primary consideration in the development of the MultiTec. One of the biggest issues in the design of a flip-up helmet is controlling the amount of wind noise experienced while riding at high speeds. The gap in the contact area of the face cover and shell has been minimized. The base plate and built-in shield integrates moving parts to the inner side of the shield, and the axis for the face cover’s rotation is covered to minimize air entry.

The Multitec’s newly enlarged, optimally positioned vents induct 60% more air than previous models, keeping the rider’s head cool and eliminating hot air through the rear neck outlets. The lower intake vents help to prevent shield fogging from rider exhalation. A 3-D sewn center pad at the crown provides a secure, wrap-around-thehead fit; 5-layer polyurethane foam, snugly fitting cheek pads are easily removable and washable, and offer a special channel fitting for eyeglasses. An improved leather neck pad helps prevent shaking and reduces noise, and an exclusive chin curtain is included for further comfort and noise reduction.
Shoei’s own Q.R.B.P. (Quick-Release Base Plate) shield removal system has long been utilized as the ideal method of shield removal and repair. Shields can be taken off the helmet by the simple pull of a trigger; such ease of use is essential and reassuring given the unpredictable nature of both long distance and competitive riding.

AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix), a high-performance combination of new and advanced shell materials, produces a lightweight shell with increased rigidity and elasticity. This reduces inertia and impact in the event of an accident and provides a very comfortable ride.
The Multitec includes the CX- 1V shield, which is now wider to increase peripheral vision. It also features the Shoei QRBP quick release system, which holds the shield closed with the simple turn of a pre-set lever. THE CX-1V SHIELD’S LOCKING MECHANISM
