- ORE-TEX membrane -The application of the GORE-TEX® membrane in footwear has revolutionized the concept of WATERPROOFING. In fact, thanks to this innovative material, it has been possible to reconcile two previously mutually exclusive attributes: WATERPROOFING and BREATH-ABILITY. The secret lies in the special micro-porous structure of the GORE-TEX® membrane. This expanded PTFE membrane contains 1.4 thousand million pores for each cm2. Each of these pores is 20,000 times smaller than the smallest drop of water; so water can not pass from the outsides through to the inside of the shoe. At the same time, these pores are approximately 700 times bigger than a water vapor molecule (perspiration) and therefore allow rapid transpiration of any humidity created inside the boot.
